Jo the owner of The Empty Space Theatre in Manchester. Jo is the definition of a strong independent woman! She started her first business at just 18 years old. She was also the first milk-woman in Manchester.
In her twenties Jo decided she wanted to pursue her real passion. Acting and Theatre. So she started auditioning for drama schools. However during that process she contracted Bell's Palsy. This however did not deter her at all! She went into every audition determined to succeed.
Jo opened The Empty Space in 2017. However the theatre was certainly not what it is today. It was just a warehouse! Jo then proceeded to develop the space into a fully functioning theatre.
As you can see, it really wasn't much to begin with. However with a great determination. Jo has transformed the theatre into something much more special. It is now a real gem in the Manchester Theatre scene.
Jo has gone on to produce several plays and touring theatre productions with The Empty Space Theatre. She is a fantastic director as well as producer and businesswoman. A real powerhouse of a person!
Alongside being passionate about theatre in Manchester, Jo cares deeply for her two dogs Sky and Chewie. Sky is a rescue who she has been training and caring for. Chewie is a cockapoo with a wonderful temperament and an award winning agility dog! If Jo isn't in the theatre she is out training her two wonderful dogs.
